Welcome to my column for the Open Source.  My purpose is to introduce the Zodiac. Each sign is divine.
Our focus this month is on the Sun. Leos are the exaggerated version of what we all are: stars; made of
inspiration, hope and passion. Leos are creative children of the stars, with a sense of destiny and
responsibility. Remember, our sun is not a planet at all, but a star!

Leo represents the human capacity to be an individual Self. A Leo is the soul’s answer to the nameless
and narcotizing horror of non-being. Leos are aware of the larger reality of their required leadership.
They are infected with the Sun’s power and immediacy. Life cannot overlook a Leo, because they take
their power from the orb of passion. This is why they get noticed most of the time.

The Sun is life and that is why Leo is in charge of the generative impulse. The ancients used the image of
the male lion to portray our solar system leader. What kind of a planet would we have without the creative
and inspiring prospect of great sex, at some point? The Sun offers the self-evident path to immortality by
making sure to leave a full generation of children around to replace us. Cats are dynastic, in that each
one instinctively behaves as if their genetic material is better and Leos are cats. Survival of the fittest is at
the heart of the erotic impulse.

This is the heart of the Leo philosophy. If not for the erotic principle, we would have nothing to live for.
The Sun is about having a good strong open life where you CAN do what you want, if you are willing to
live by the rules. Shame and hiding have no place in this scheme.

Regarding habitat, where do you seek your prey for observation? You can find Leos everywhere. They
are kindly and supportive of your needs, they are the most generous and fun sign around. They can be
found in absolutely any profession or occupation.

The most important thing to observe is their steady and heart felt support of the team. This shows that
the Leo you are observing has reckoned with the issue of her ego, and has brought it under control. It is
a major hurdle of maturity to put other’s needs before your own.

Female Leos live naturally, breathtakingly, for their kids. They are great moms, and they coach their
children too. They fulfill the mother and father role all at once. Quite often they unintentionally compete
with the husband and father who contributed the genetic material, leaving him feeling useless and
inadequate. This is common where fear has had its effect before.

For male Leos, the path to balance and maturity comes from engaging in conflict and honorable contests
for power and supremacy. He fights for the right to be dominant in all areas. Leos are very masculine.
They love their kids in a fatherly way but so fiercely that people know they live for the future generations.
If they are out of touch emotionally they still at least have fun. Even an unhappy Leo believes in fun,
    especially for kids.

A gift of the Sun is their determination and focus, to make them steady, fixed and goal oriented. The
famous Leo stubbornness comes from this quality of steadiness. Leos get into a "superman" complex
because they are the strong ones. The Leo sign tends to uphold and support what is going on, right or
    wrong.

To counteract this trait, remind your Leo friend or mate to realistically set limitation on what they can
commit to. Ask them to decide what they want to do with their (and your) time. Leos like entertaining, art,
children, shows, chances to teach, chances to lead, chances to excel. Life is another word for ever
renewing hope and inspiration. That is how a Star would see it.

Do you love a Leo? Then pass my column on to your friend! I have a special message for my" Sun Star”
    people, born in summer:

Saturn has been in your sign of Leo for a year already. You might remember your last birthday. Wow,
how heavy. Saturn will be finished reforming you by your birthday in 2007. At that time, the corrective and
karmic planet will begin to beat up Virgos and leave you alone! By then, you will be busy with new levels
of productivity, moving on with new goals and a more workable and humane situation. Are you feeling
overburdened? I know everyone has their problems, but last year you began to see the effects of having
Saturn overshadowing your sign. Suddenly, more was asked of you than before. This birthday year you
may feel like you are in an endurance contest, and responsibility is still paramount. Saturn overshadows
Leos for the next 12 months. The energies seem to be asking for improvement in the form of better
organization, better use of your time, and clearer boundaries between work and play. The Higher Powers
know you can commit, that is not the problem. Make sure you only commit to what you want!

For the balance of 2006, Saturn is asking you to question your beliefs about being a "superman" or
woman. Become conscious of the core of what you want, and focus on that. By your birthday 2007, you
will be “ego free.” Unnecessary expenditures of your time, money and emotion will be over. You will learn
to live within your emotional budget and love it; because it affords you a new chance at dignity. You
deserve a chance to love again.
