Last month, I shared my musings about the sign of Aries. For May, the spring sign of Taurus is my
focus, and gladly so, because Taurus represents so many wonderful things in the symbolic language of
astrology. Before I go into detail about Taurus, I want to look at the symbolism of the main planetary
influence on Taurus, which is the planet Venus. It is important to understand what Venus helps us do in
order to understand our friend the Taurus.
Venus, the Goddess of love, is said to rule over or govern Taurus and Libra. Venus is a symbol that
stands for our social attitudes, our love nature, and our approach to money. This symbol reflects our
attitudes about the arts, the principles of harmony. A good way to understand Venus as a symbol is to
think about your personal tastes. What is your love style? What is your favorite color? You have just
gotten in touch with your own Venus. It is this mechanism of selection that the astrological Venus in
your chart describes. The placement of Venus describes our capacity for making choices. What and
who we will choose is determined by our preferences, that is, our Venus.
As an astrologer, I analyze your Venus placement to help you begin to understand what is important to
you. This is the essential first step in the process of re-creating your world. You need to understand
what you are focusing on, and why.  Is your Venus an active one or a passive one?  In an active sign,
the expression of your desires is quite different than in a passive one. The same goes for aspects to
your Venus. It is all a matter of emphasis.
People dominated by Venus will always focus on subjects like pleasure, security, relationships, and
financial self sacrifice for loved ones. No matter what your Sun sign, each one of us has a bit of the
Great Goddess in us. This quality arouses us to have more appreciation for those who have supported
us, and for those whom we support. Taurus is the embodiment of the Great Goddess, the Mother of us
all, the Lady with the goodies! Taurus people are well loved by their intimates.  They often work hard to
support loved ones. The fixed and steady nature of the sign will incline them to get into stable situations
where they enjoy hard work and good rewards. They are tenacious and determined and can pursue
goals throughout life.
Inside, it is another matter. The personality of Taurus is involved in a great struggle with others and with
the world. Often this struggle is secret; less often it bursts out into the unpleasant bossiness and
stubbornness that Taurus is known for. Their struggle is nothing less than to remake the world in
conformity with their paradigm of pleasure, prosperity and rewards. Most often, the world seems
determined to frustrate our placid Venus born people. They often grow agitated in their quest for simple
common sense and consistency. Taurus has a famous patience and a terrible temper when they are
aroused.
Want to make an April or May person fall in love with you? Show them that you love logic, consistency
and common sense. They feel locked out when the world is too crazy, like it tends to be in recent
years.  In order to understand yourselves, my Taurus sweeties, understand your choices. Follow the
money in your life to know what you have created. Look at what you spend money and time on to
understand what is important. New goals are possible when you are not confused about your value to
yourself and others. The problem is that Taurus has a preference for habits, and they are considered
hard to change. But things can get better, life can look more loving and honorable and healthy! You
can create the prosperity and love you want very easily by gaining control of your habits and desires.
Consider it your birthright as a God/Goddess Creator.
Taurus, you do not need to be right or have everyone agree with your opinion. Instead, you need a
community of your choice and pleasure. Too often Taurus people make an inner agreement to block
out what doesn’t support the views they already have. They can seem very rigid and opinionated,
wasting their precious manifestation energy trying to change others! Instead, you, Taurus,  can create
good things, as is your greatest talent.
Many of our May born friends occasionally choose self imposed suffering, which comes from building
expectations that cannot be fulfilled. Yes, it is all in our heads. Goddess people try to provide the whole
world for others. Unfortunately, when confronted by rudeness, sudden changes of plans (rudeness) or
disrespect (rudeness), Taurus people often are less than flexible. Their friends need to understand that
they suffer when their plans are left in tatters by the flighty signs like Sagittarius, Gemini and Aquarius.
To care for your Taurus, appreciate that they will bear much in silence. Know that if you push it you
may lose your hearing when they finally explode with bellowing and screaming. Luckily for us, the
Goddess forgives her children after a time and perhaps a payment or two.
Always show respect to Mother Nature, so no trying to fool Her. Taurus people have a love which is
truly of the Goddess, and an eye for value. I always say that those who are chosen to be loved by
Taurus are the lucky ones. No one puts more effort into the business of pleasure. You may end up
better nourished, having nicer things and feeling secure again. Not a bad deal at all. Like the Great
Goddess, Taurus will bear with things and try to help. She, the Goddess, is also present when we go
through transitions in life, birth and death, marriage and graduation. Your Taurus friend will be trying to
support you through your transitions if you let her. No one is a better listener, not even steady Leo or
passionate Scorpio. Just try to appreciate why your Taurus friend and lover does so much for you.
They have the need to support creation, much like the archetypal mother of us all. So return the love,
and know that you are free to create your own world based on your likes and dislikes, no matter what
your sign.
