Welcome to Lily's House:
The Ninth House: Sector of Beliefs

The houses refer to place or setting for life on Earth. In this series, I will share some real insider stuff about each
house. The science and the geography of the houses is less important than the poetry of them. I hope to fill your
need for a lightening fast comprehension of your own inner thoughts of the past, when you had questions about
the reality you live in. Perhaps you will be inspired to observe the stage we all play on, that fiction we call the
houses of the horoscope.

Welcome to the place in life where we show the world what our beliefs are. The sector of the 9th house is
the least real and tangible of all the 12 sectors of the chart, because it takes place inside the mind and
heart. You may display outward signs of your beliefs, but shaping these ideas took place entirely inside
your mind.
That is what beliefs are; thoughts imbued with special emotions, so they stand out in our minds. We put
the emotion there when we have had  notable, dramatic, or even traumatic experiences. We figure out
how we feel about things after we go through them.
To say you have philosophies seems too lofty for most people. We prefer to say you have a few notions
about the universe. You have a very distinct concept of what the world is and why you came to live here,
and you did not learn these concepts in philosophy class! Your philosophy in life is a combination of many
complex decisions made in a mostly unconscious manner.
In addition, our personal philosophies are overlaid with programming by others.  There are many sources
of programming in life. For example larger historical cultural groups such as church, school, state, and
family provide specialized programs which help us integrate into some aspect of society. Universities
teach us our occupations and this includes how to feel about them. Police and military work requires a
philosophy which will ease the way to performing the job. A philosophy is how we cope with life’s lessons,
and how we rationalize getting up in the morning. "I do all this for my family," or "I believe in education"
are typical statements reflecting a programmed philosophy.
Many people have a weak belief in the reality of his world, but can be reassured through programming
given to them from those who share his beliefs. We can be influenced or not according to the belief
system.
Modern times have brought us to the information society. The ninth house is a picture of your information
sources, and your information filters. Now, during the 21st century, we use a new and uniquely modern
skill of reading the abstract man. We track him by his attitudes and beliefs, statistically, not from direct
contact with him. By understanding how he thinks and why, we can know how he justifies his actions.
Many groups in society want to know which things
you load with emotion, and they find out easily. This
information is used to create our modern consumer society.
Philosophies are a strong indicator of potential action. An example would be when someone requests a
religious exemption from military combat. Warriors respect and understand the power of personal
beliefs. The exemptions are granted if someone can prove they will not fight. They will then be given a
desk job, and their service will be combat free.
Everyone has a framework of right and wrong. We all decide if someone or something might agree with
our belief system, or if it violates it with shocking effect. No philosophy ever hurt anyone; people hurt
people with religion! The actions of persons under the influence of programmed philosophies can be
horrific.
If you take the time to find the truth for yourself and make an effort the think every day, you will be able to
develop your own philosophies into something that might help others. That is how a guru, or teacher, is
created. They don't just appear! Great philosophers have had many lifetimes on earth to develop their
thoughts into purified emotions of helping. It takes the application of discipline to keep from jumping the
gun and announcing your philosophies and beliefs too early. Charles Manson announced the
commencement of what he called "helter skelter", or race war, during the year 1969. His philosophies
were his thoughts laced with emotions. His ideas were attractive to others. People felt he knew truth.
Then he decided his philosophies had come to fruition. He was unwilling to put his theories to the test
and see if they were going to help others. History records many such group leaders. Having followers
does not make someone a true teacher.
The following is a short listing of your traits in belief, based on your rising sign. Please call me for a chart
calculation, and I will explain which one of these types you are. You need to know your birth time. If you
already know your rising sign, read on with pleasure.
Aries rising: Sagittarius is on your  ninth house cusp. You are the classic believer in traditional faiths,
and you respect authority. You have a natural comfort with the subject of God and religion, because you
know that every thing has its appropriate expression, and beliefs are necessary to maintain order in the
world. You don't like to go to extremes in religion. It is important for you to check and make sure you are
not giving knee- jerk reactions to questions of ethics and morality. The Sagittarius archetype has a
comical shadow, that of the carnival barker. Please dignify and uphold the higher values you say you
stand for by renewing your faith.
Taurus Rising: Capricorn on the Ninth house cusp. Conservative philosophies dominate your system.
You are a supporter of the railroads but you also believe they should pay for themselves without
government handouts. Your views are self help, and you are frankly cheap when it comes to spending on
your mind.
More to come...
