Welcome to the sparkling lights and icy contrast of late fall. This is the time of year where we yield
up the autumn season and surrender to winter. When Sagittarius starts, on Nov 23, we are
celebrating the approaching holiday season. This is a time of magic. Colored lights, myth and songs
are brought out in many rituals designed to inspire us with generosity and love. Every birth of a Sag
child is a gift to the family, a gift of laughter and wisdom. The Clown Philosopher is born clothed with
light, under the image of an archer or Centaur. More about this later.

Each Zodiac sign has a distinct function in the living matrix of human society. There is no
overlapping of jobs between the signs. The defining drive of each sign is very evident and distinct.
For example, the drive associated with Aries is leadership, and the drive most associated with
Cancer is nurturing. The drive of Sagittarius is to bring the truth, to be free and live openly, to be
themselves no matter what. This motivation may be the most ferocious in the Zodiac. Guitarist Jimmy
Hendrix was a Sagittarius who often spoke and wrote about his seeking of knowledge about different
states of consciousness. He paid a high price for his knowledge, typical of the Promethean deal
which forms the backbone of motivation for Sagittarius. They do things for experience!

Sag’s are brilliant but they need variety and change in their environment to stay fascinated. Hence,
their nature as hunters shows restlessness. Our Sagittarius children are masculine and sleek, and
they like to do the leading in childhood social circles. Most Sag's emerge early as leaders. Both boys
and girls are athletic (given a well aspected Mars). Not all adventure is in the physical realm,
however. Jupiter's children know how to seek out adventure on all levels. There is the thrill of finding
a new continent and a thrill to finding a new microbe too. Restless intellect, restless emotions, the
fiery ones are always creating. You must respect the Sag for his or her originality, and allow them
freedom to take adult responsibility in life. They often have playful or irresponsible habits with money
in youth, till they learn how the big boys play it. If not, they learn the hard way.

Sagittarius is afraid that he or she will miss something. Do they ever get tired? You bet, especially
after scaling a mountain or a mountain of paperwork. That's when the December born head out for
fun. No one gives more life to the party, yet during quiet conversation they are equally dazzling. No
one is that "on" all the time. There has to be a down side, right?

Sagittarius is a sign who tries to emulate the King of the Gods, Zeus or Jupiter. They wish to show
strength, but there is weakness in constant strength. This is the only thing for the December born to
fear; their lack of receptivity to sensible early advice from those who love them. Such advice is
designed to promote the Sag on a safe predictable road. However, that very safety violates their
mandate to always be original. With a nature to find and explore, the Sag can sometimes get bored
with the settling down part of life. Other signs often feel the need to try to pare down the Jupiterian
excess, but Sagittarius must be free to think big and gamble with fortune.

Sag needs to lead the pack to fulfill and release his inner creativity. Many times, Leo is the fire sign
who does the most excellent job of leading and loving at the same time. Sag and Aries are fire signs
too, more primitive in their drives to create, lead and be the best. They get into intense states of
excitement over competitions and contests. Sagittarius people have a fascination with other cultures,
and are determined to explore and find new people in their lives. There is the hunter again.
ARCHERY AND HUNTING has a modern equivalent in cars and guitars, toys and games of all kinds
which they love. They handle big things from tractors to giant airplanes with ease. They have a
sense for animals, especially big animals like horses, which are appropriate for their adoration. The
important thing is their need to win and to inspire others. Their great weakness is in their distain of
    details.

There is much to admire about your Sagittarius man or woman, the one who has captured your
attention. If you are looking for an adventurous type you will get it, even if it is armchair or
intellectual adventure. Because of their independent nature, making the transition to something
routine and long term, be it a job or relationship, is a big step for Sag. It requires maturity, love and
understanding to transform dreams on a daily level. A Cancer or Taurus person, someone nurturing
and sweet, would seem an ideal match, but I noticed that Sags seem to like difficult matches. They
seek out their opposite sign, Gemini, with uncanny magnetism, They do not get an easy time with
Gemini, yet Jupiter's children know they need someone who will stand against them and resist their
domineering ways. A match with Aquarius may be passionate but on again off again. Matches with
Virgos and Leos tend to get competitive. Pisces brings great romance and aspirations, but it is
difficult for long term. Another Sagittarius, well, two kings under one roof? You be the judge.

They are visionaries who try to bring in a new order, but they are strangely contradictory in other
ways. They are so youthful and serious at the same time, like Sagittarian Woody Allen.

Jupiter is the largest planet and they emulate Jupiter with big plans and aspirations. A good example
of the Sag visionary type is Walt Disney, the gifted and pioneering creator of Disneyland, and a film
innovator who won a record 30 Academy Awards. He was born Dec 5, 1901, and he never tried to
conform. Instead, he created. He was refused over and over when he decided to create a full length
animated feature, Snow White. Critics said it would flop, and it was touch and go. Many times people
criticized him, but he had a vision and was on a mission to do what had not been done before. He
was like every Sagittarius; he was a target of criticism. That is because Sagittarius always tells the
truth as it appears to them, and this truth gets them in trouble.

He was free to dream up new ideas, (Sagittarius) while his brother Roy Disney was heavily involved
in what he loved to do, which was to nail down the commitments and details. The combination
worked, but Roy was always modest about his contribution. He regarded his brother the Sagittarius,
fiery and visionary and gifted, to be the real talent, because Walt had the original ideas and dreams,
the stuff that life is made of before it slows down and congeals into matter as we know it.

A gift is what Sagittarius is to mankind, someone to inspire us to do more with our lives, or so to
simply make us laugh. Harpo Marx is one of my all time favorite Sagittarians, born November 23,
1888. He was able to achieve a goal of making millions laugh, helping countless people to forget
their personal troubles and dissolve into joy. He left a legacy of films that are every bit as fresh
today as when they were made. Harpo focused on the common attitudes of society, and his
expansive nature allowed him to lampoon and exaggerate. No one escaped his clowning!

A very happy Sagittarius is someone who has met his or her grand goals in life. However,
unhappiness can set in for some, mostly because of criticism. They find it hard to be realistic and
they receive lots of criticism over that and other points. It is inspiring to compete against oneself or
others, but there comes a time when the body must surrender to nurturing or rest. Sometimes you
see a cynical or harsh personality emerge if dreams are not translated into reality consistently
enough to keep the December born inspired.

That is where most Sagittarians are not prepared. They simply cannot accept the limitations that
others are able to adapt to. Because of this lack of willingness to adapt, they overcome limitations all
the time and do the impossible. Yet, there is a price to pay, and it is the body which shows the
ravages of adventure. They make grand contributions to society all the time, giving their lives over
to truth, but they are often uncomfortable until they learn the details of life, including healthy habits
for the body. A Fire sign usually disregards the reality and limitations of the body. Sagittarius is
mutable fire, meaning they have lots of ideas all the time but things are constantly changing. Their
health profile can vary. The body organ ruled by Jupiter is the liver, the largest organ in the body.
Be kind to your liver, which has regenerative powers. Look at your friend the Sagittarius. He or she
may have very nice legs and well developed thighs. The thighs are governed by Jupiter and
Sagittarius. They are a symbol of the freedom of movement and adventure the Sag knows is his
    birthright.

They try to lead and inspire, but they can be loners with communication difficulties, remember the
centaur? We need to discuss a special variation of the sign, the Centaur, who resembles a wounded
healer. That type of Sag can be very solitary. The people who love them are usually quite
concerned and for good reason. Centaurs are not realistic about physical needs and aging.

Are you a Centaur? If your sign is Sagittarius, you may be a centaur: a healer and  trainer of
Heroes. A centaur is a spiritual teacher who is independent of other teachers, and who is inspired by
direct contact with the inner Gods. Such a person is self empowered and can independently awaken
    his or her own genius.

Allow for the possibility that you might be a teacher, and ask your Guides to help you to be receptive
to giving and receiving lessons and inspiration that will strengthen your mission. This would explain
many things you have chosen in the past, and things may start to make sense now like never
before. You already know you have a mission, and a purpose to being here. Other signs may flop
around for a mission, but focus on your own soul and you will quickly find out more about it. See my
website, www.AstroLily.com. to get more information about how to contact your inner guides.
